My Therapeutic Approach

Come as you are…

I believe in everyone’s innate capacity to heal and am honoured to witness others on their own path of being human. Your time with me will involve compassionate, culturally competent, and trauma-informed conversations and practices that emphasize your experiences, beliefs, values, and perspectives.

I offer an integrated approach, drawing from many therapeutic practices, to best align with you and your needs. The central tenet, however, is the therapeutic relationship we create together — a connection in which you feel deeply heard, seen, and cared for.

PERSON-CENTRED

You are the expert of your life and I value your experiences and perspectives. I aim to support you through unconditional positive regard, kindness, acceptance, and non-judgment.

MINDFULNESS + SELF-COMPASSION

There is a lot of pressure, stress, and expectation out there. Learning new ways of being aware and gentle in the moment can be helpful when navigating challenges, transitions, and change.

BODY-MIND CONNECTION

As we explore the stories of your experiences, I aim to include your body’s narrative as well. I believe that your nervous system is inherently wise and will communicate to you its limits and needs as you move through life.

EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION + REPROCESSING (EMDR)

EMDR is a structured therapeutic approach that is widely regarded as an effective form of treatment for trauma. It uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements or tapping) to help process distressing or traumatic memories and experiences. Visit FAQ to learn more about EMDR.

ATTACHMENT THEORY

As social beings, our relationships matter and have impact. Understanding these further can help inform us in how to create meaningful and secure relationships.

ART THERAPY

Sometimes words alone don’t cover it. Art therapy offers another way for you to express yourself. You are never expected to be an ‘artist’ and, instead, the focus is on the creative process and your own insights. Learn more about Art Therapy.
